Last night at the Wresting matches at the Sapperton Pensioners Hall, where it was Halloween Night, I photographed this striking person in the audience. There is a tendency to role play in our society and a tendency to create personalities other than our own. Perhaps we are not satisfied with who we are or where we belong or if indeed we feel that we belong anywhere. The mask gives us an identity which maybe we do not have. It also allows us to hide behind a mythology whether real or unreal, as shamans or medicine men, or people with remedies for our own illnesses. Perhaps we are just having fun. Taken with the Olympus OMD and the 12mm lens.
Commentary on photography, and my current photographic projects. I published the book, A Room in the City, Anvil Press 2010 and operate a photographic studio and gallery in New Westminster, BC. Currently working on a documentary film on aging drug addicts, No Way Out.
